TheAnkh (or ankh cross) is an ancient Egyptian hieroglyph that literally means "life" and, in esoteric and symbolic contexts, represents the key to immortality, cosmic balance, and the union of opposites

Structure and geometric symbolism
The Ankh is composed of three main elements:
  • The upper loop (the circle or oval): Represents the divine plane, the eternal soul, spiritual perfection, and the beginning without end.
  • The horizontal bar: Symbolizes the material plane, the intersection of energies, and the earthly world.
  • The vertical shaft (Tau cross): Represents the descent of divine force into matter and the path that connects earth to heaven.
In a geometric and esoteric sense, it is often associated with the Golden Ratio and with the synthesis of the trinity and manifest reality.
Main esoteric meanings
  • The Key of Life and Mysteries: In ancient Egypt and modern esoteric doctrines, the Ankh is considered a key capable of opening the gates between the world of the living and that of the dead, symbolizing the continuity of consciousness beyond death.
  • Union of opposites: It is interpreted as the conjunction between the masculine and feminine principles (often associated with the sacred union between Osiris and Isis or as a symbol of the uterus and the penis).
  • The breath of life: In tomb paintings, deities hold or present the Ankh near the Pharaoh's nose to instill the eternal breath of life and awaken his higher faculties (linked in some esoteric traditions to the pineal gland).
  • Protection and regeneration: Used as an amulet, it is believed to ward off negative energies, promote fertility, and ensure the perpetual regeneration of being, a central concept in the World History Encyclopedia.
